For thousands of years, ginger has been a go-to for treating all sorts of ailments, including nausea, colds, and even high blood pressure. Some studies even show that it can help improve blood sugar. Ginger has proven to be a potent antioxidant, helping to reduce bodily inflammation. Because we know that pretty much everything, from colds to cancer, is caused or related to inflammation, ginger seemingly has the potential to be useful for many.

Did you know?

Ginger ale traditionally had ginger in it. So it makes sense why your mom would give it to you when you weren’t feeling so hot. But today’s ginger ale actually doesn’t have any ginger at all!

How to add ginger into your day.

Instead of ginger ale (which has just as much sugar as a Coke), just add fresh grated ginger into hot water. Add a little lemon too for extra flavor. Whether it’s fresh or dry, ginger is perfect in a stir fry or in a veggie-based soup.
